Every great product starts with a problem nobody has properly solved yet. For SurfBark, that problem had four legs, bright blue eyes, and absolutely no intention of sitting still after a bath.
Her name is Tara. She is a Siberian Husky. And she is the reason SurfBark exists.
The Bath That Started Everything
If you have ever bathed a husky, you already know what comes next. The shaking starts before you even reach for the towel. Water goes everywhere. The walls. The ceiling. Your face. And then, just when you think the worst is over, they find the nearest piece of furniture and finish the job themselves.
We tried everything. One towel. Two towels. Five towels. A hairdryer Tara absolutely refused to tolerate. Microfibre cloths. The "hold them still" method, which was not really a method at all. Nothing worked. Tara would still be damp an hour later, and the whole house smelled like wet dog.
The frustrating part was not the chaos. It was knowing that this happened to dog owners everywhere, every single day, and that nobody had built a proper solution for it.
Why a Robe?
The idea came from watching how people dry off after a swim. A towel works when you can hold it in place. The problem with dogs is that they will not hold still, which means the towel never stays where it needs to be long enough to actually absorb anything.
A robe wraps around the whole body and stays there. It works hands-free. The dog can sit, lie down, wander around, and the robe keeps working the whole time. It absorbs from every direction at once, including the undercoat where the moisture really hides.
That was the insight. Not a better towel. A completely different approach.
Tara modelling the robe she inspired. She is not impressed. She never is.Building SurfBark From Scratch
We are not a big company. We are dog owners who got fed up and decided to do something about it. Building SurfBark meant sourcing the right material (double-layer microfibre that actually pulls moisture out of a thick coat, not just off the surface), getting the sizing right across four dog sizes, and making sure the fit worked for breeds as different as a golden retriever and a husky.
Tara was our first tester. She was not enthusiastic about wearing it. She is, however, consistently dry within 30 minutes, which she has grudgingly accepted as a reasonable trade.
Double-layer microfibre. Adjustable fit. Available in S, M, L and XL. Dries your dog in under 30 minutes, hands free.
From One Dog Owner to Another
SurfBark ships from the United States, which means your order arrives fast. We built it that way because we know what it feels like to wait weeks for something you actually need.
We are a small brand. Every order matters to us. Every dog who gets to skip the post-bath chaos is a small win we genuinely care about.
Tara does not know she is the face of a brand. She just knows bath time is less terrible than it used to be. Honestly, same.
Frequently asked questions
What sizes does the SurfBark robe come in?
The SurfBark Signature Dog Drying Robe comes in four sizes: S, M, L and XL. The fit is adjustable, so if your dog is between sizes, we recommend sizing up. A size guide is available on the product page.
What is the robe made from?
The robe uses a double-layer microfibre construction. The inner layer pulls moisture away from the coat and traps it inside, while the outer layer stays dry to the touch. It is machine washable and built for daily use.
How long does it take to dry a dog?
Most dogs are fully dry within 30 minutes. Thick-coated breeds like huskies may take a little longer, but the robe works hands free the entire time, so you are not standing there with a towel.
Do you ship across the United States?
Yes. We ship to the contiguous United States from our warehouse in Olive Branch, Mississippi. Most orders arrive within 3 to 7 business days.
